About me

hi, I’m Rachel.

I am an abstract artist based in tennessee. My background is in interior design, graphic design, music, and a life spent distilling every form of creative investigation, culminating in a highly intuition-based art practice. An abiding obsession with color, light, and motion are the guideposts for each painting, while mark-making and composition derive from a deeper expression and embodiment.

My practice involves constant experimentation with materials, learning their potential and limitations, pushing through inhibition, and embracing surprise. working primarily with acrylics, inks, and charcoals, each piece is as dissimilar from another as one day is to the next. allowing hue to tell the story, the chase—or the pursuit—is to create fields of color that speak and resonate.

My Story

The Main thing

My work revolves around emotion, Raw, unfiltered, and honest. Through bold color, layered textures, and fluid form, I create pieces that confront. Inspired by the fearless women of modern abstract art, every stroke is a statement of freedom, truth, and the beauty of living unapologetically.

Background

I was raised in a home where art and music were in every room. Creativity wasn’t a hobby—it was a way of life. I found my language in paint and sound.

Creating was my first refuge. Though I stepped away for years to build a business and raise a family, returning to painting in 2018 became my turning point. My early works embraced risk, rule-breaking, and instinct.

Sharing my work publicly was one of the scariest things I’d ever done, but it acted as a catalyst. People connected with the honesty in my marks and my unpolished process, and I did three separate exhibits in Nashville, (listed below.)
